Upload main image here: ![]() I was frozen out of the game with Barnsley ![]() ![]() | With the transfer window now open, I find myself in exactly the same situation as I did in August – frozen out of the team, then left out of the squad entirely for last Saturday’s game at Barnsley, in the hope that I will be sold off to ease Southampton’s financial problems. It’s such a frustrating situation that I find myself in; one minute I’m featuring in the side, then all of a sudden January comes around and I’m no longer wanted again. It’s not that I’ve suddenly suffered a drop in form, in fact I am fit and raring to go. I haven’t asked to leave Southampton, I think I have a lot to offer the young side in terms of experience – given the position we find ourselves at present. I want to be playing my part in helping the club pull away from danger, so to find myself completely discarded points to just one thing – the club is trying to force me out. I was absolutely horrified to find my contract details printed in the local press last week![]() But if finding myself on the sidelines wasn’t disappointing enough, I was absolutely horrified to find my contract details printed in the local press last week. I wasn’t the only player, but my details were certainly highlighted more than any other, and one can only speculate how the local press got hold of such details. It’s a sorry state of affairs, particularly as all I want to do is play football, but I suppose that’s the way football has gone these days – it’s become more of a business than a sport. But if I’m no longer wanted, I would rather the club tell me, then I can start to look elsewhere. I’m 31 now and want to be playing week in, week out. As far as I’m concerned, I’m still good enough and young enough to be playing regularly in either the Championship or the Premiership, so we’ll just have to see what develops in the next couple of weeks… ![]() ![]() - 21 Feb 2009 17:30 Nice one Jason! MOTM performance today I heard, as you showed what you can do when starting up front. Let´s hope the coaches get the message and let you play your part in keeping us up! - 27 Jan 2009 22:37 Thanks for that goal line clearance tonight Jason. It´s just a shame you and Saga didn´t start. Oh and where is Rudi? We could be out of danger in no time if you all played the 90 minutes. Perhaps ´Mr chocolate´ learned a lesson today? I hope so... - 17 Jan 2009 19:21 Its sad to see a great talen like you go to waste in a team that are playing like a league 2 side at the moment, ive been a saints fan for the whole 15 years of my life and its not nice seeing us in this postition, its people like you, saga, wright-phillips and kelvin davies who keep the team where it is. the whole side is being ruined by a manager who´s tactics dont work in the english leagues and a chairman who cant seem th get his head out of the clouds perhaps you should show rupert and jan who much they are disliked by us (the forever loyal fans). i met you on a few occasions outside the club grounds and you are a person and player that i really look up to and its sad to see that you are not in the side week in week out. have a word with jan and see if you can sort your situation out even if it means taking a pay cut. after all its only money. you are a really good player that should be playing for a premiership club but unfortunatly you are noy so you along with the other experianced players need to get us back to the prem even if we go back down the next season at least it would be a step in the right direction. COME ON YOU SAINTS! - 15 Jan 2009 19:50 Please stay with the team Jason. As one of the ´older heads´ it´s obvious you´re crucial in helping to direct the rest of the guys. I think you´re a great guy and were really instrumental in our survival at the end of last season under Nigel Pearson, as do many Saints fans, and personally can´t see why you aren´t in the side week in, week out, especially, like you said, to help offer your experience during the game. I was shocked to see your contract details in the press the other week and it just about sums up Southampton Football Club right now as a whole that even the bare mimimum of things that should be expected can´t be relied upon at the moment. Look forward to hopefully seeing you in the first team again soon. ![]() |
